Meet our Salon Owner Stephen Young who has been hairdressing for more than 30 years, learning the trade, training and working in the West End with Trevor Sorbie and Sanrizz. Stephen is an award-winning stylist who also worked in Wimbledon Village for over 20 years.
Which hairstyle do you absolutely love creating? It’s been my quest to produce a precise cut in a consistent manner - I specialise in precision cutting for any face shape and hair texture. I do not do hair colour but have a fabulous team who are highly skilled to create the best hair colours around.
What is your ultimate ambition? I’ve always wanted to have my own salon and I’m delighted to have been able to do this with my wife Alison these past 11 years.
How would you describe yourself in three words? Full of energy.
Tell us something about yourself that might surprise others. In my teenage years in the 80s I was a very good breakdancer!
Say hello to Salon Owner & Reception Manager Alison Young who began her career as a beauty therapist 29 years ago at The Retreat Headmasters in Wimbledon Village - which is where she also met her husband Stephen Young! She has worked as a beauty sales consultant for Espa in Liberty London and a beauty salon manager in Bond Street.
What do you love about your job? I love interacting with the clients and meeting new people.
What is your ultimate ambition? Stephen and I decided to get our own salon 11 years ago and I am very proud of what we have achieved.
How would you describe yourself in three words? Compassionate, driven, organised.
Tell us something about you that would surprise others. I absolutely love art galleries. Wherever I am I make time to visit art galleries and whenever I am away on holiday I usually come home with a new piece.
Meet Natalie who is the salon manager at Stephen Young Salon. She has been a stylist for 18 years, training with Headmasters Salons as an apprentice, working her way up to being a busy stylist and involved in educating other stylists. Natalie has been with Stephen Young Salon since 2013 and continues to grow and develop, attending various courses to become salon manager.
Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing? I enjoy all aspects of hairdressing. My favourites are blow drying as you can see the final result really come together. I also really enjoy doing highlights, I love working out where to put certain colours to highlight areas of the face and brighten up complexions.
What do you love about being a hairdresser? I love coming to work to create different looks and help people who need advice to manage their hair and make people feel good about themselves.
Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? My initial inspiration to become a stylist was the TV programme 10 Years Younger because the hair made such a difference in the makeovers. I get inspiration daily from looking at people's hair wherever I am, seeing how people style their hair when they’re out and about. Also in the salon, I am inspired by my colleagues who create amazing hair.
What is your ultimate ambition? I feel as though I am living my ultimate ambition right now. However, the dream is to have my own salon.
How would you describe yourself in three words? Friendly, smiley and open.

It's time to say hello to Antonio who specialises in cutting and styling hair, including upstyles for special occasions such as proms and weddings. Antonio has been a hairdresser for more than 24 years and loves what he does.
Which hairstyles do you love doing? I enjoy restyle cutting because the transformation makes my clients look and feel amazing.
What do you love about being a hairdresser? I love the creativity and fashionable side of the salon environment.
Who inspires you to create fabulous hair? Talented Icons Hairdressers.
What is your ultimate ambition? To be part of the Milan & London fashion weeks.
How would you describe yourself in three words? Charismatic. Unique. Italian.
Tell us something about you that would surprise others. In my 20s I almost become an accountant.
Let us introduce you to Rosie. She has been styling hair since she was 16, starting off in a small salon where she learned all the essential skills it takes to become a great hairdresser
Which hairstyles or colours do you love doing? I absolutely love doing any form of colour but especially balayage. I love the fact that it’s free-hand so every look is unique and has a really personal touch.
What do you love about being a hairdresser? I love the special bonds I have created with all my clients. I also love the fact I can bring happiness to someone's life. Even if it is only changing their hairstyle.
Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? I have always been inspired by the industry on a whole from a young age. Hair, fashion and beauty are forever changing. I love keeping up to date and relevant but also appreciate anything classic and timeless. This constantly inspires me.
What is your ultimate ambition? Within the industry I just wish to continue to keep on-trend whilst learning and developing as a successful and loved stylist.
How would you describe yourself in three words? I would describe myself as kind, caring & organised
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise others. I am an ABSOLUTE clean freak. I won’t leave home until everything is spotless and in its correct place. It’s not uncommon for me to spend hours cleaning on my days off. After burning all those calories I’m always hungry. I have been known to finish a Five Guys burger in 2 and a half minutes. (I am always hungry)
Say hello to Olivia who began her hairdressing career as a Saturday girl when she was just 15 years old. She began her hairdressing apprenticeship with Stephen Young Salon when she was 16 and qualified in 2018. She loves the atmosphere and salon life and hasn’t looked back since.
Which hairstyle or colour do you love creating? One of my favourite colours to create is balayage. I love the freehand aspect of the colour application, how you can place the colour where you feel is needed. Creating an amazing blend!
What do you love about being a hairdresser? What I love most about being a hairdresser is getting to know clients, helping them achieve their hair goals and of course the end result and transformation.
Who inspires you to create fabulous hair? My inspiration in life is my mum. I love her work ethic - she has always been very hard working and independent, which has inspired me to put everything into my work. Being able to treat her as a thank you for everything she’s done for me is the icing on the cake!
What is your ultimate ambition? My ultimate ambition would be to one day own and run my own successful salon.
How would you describe yourself in three words? Loyal, bubbly, and caring.
Tell us something about yourself that might surprise others. Something that might surprise people about me would be that I have been a qualified stylist for over 4 years! But really! I have sang in the Royal Albert Hall and can play hot cross buns on a trumpet! But I’m still only in my early twenties so I’m sure there will be a lot more surprises to come.
What do you love about being a hairdresser? What I like about my job is making client feel happy with their hair and their whole salon experience. I also love working with clients to achieve their vision together.
What is your ultimate ambition? My ambition is to one day own my own business and become even more successful.
How would you describe yourself in three words? Kind, helpful, smiley. Always there to make your perfect coffee.
Tell us something about yourself that might surprise others. Something that surprises others is that I'm good at baking. My favourite thing to make is a Victoria sponge cake.
