Meet our Salon Owner Stephen Young who has been hairdressing for more than 30 years, learning the trade, training and working in the West End with Trevor Sorbie and Sanrizz.  Stephen is an award-winning stylist who also worked in Wimbledon Village for over 20 years.  

Which hairstyle do you absolutely love creating? It’s been my quest to produce a precise cut in a consistent manner  - I specialise in precision cutting for any face shape and hair texture.  I do not do hair colour but have a fabulous team who are highly skilled to create the best hair colours around.

What is your ultimate ambition? I’ve always wanted to have my own salon and I’m delighted to have been able to do this with my wife Alison these past 13 years.

How would you describe yourself in three words? Full of energy.

Tell us something about yourself that might surprise others.  In my teenage years in the 80s I was a very good breakdancer!

Say hello to Salon Owner & Reception Manager Alison Young who began her career as a beauty therapist 29 years ago at The Retreat Headmasters in Wimbledon Village - which is where she also met her husband Stephen Young!  She has worked as a beauty sales consultant for Espa in Liberty London and a beauty salon manager in Bond Street.

What do you love about your job?  I love interacting with the clients and meeting new people.

What is your ultimate ambition?  Stephen and I decided to get our own salon 11 years ago and I am very proud of what we have achieved.

How would you describe yourself in three words?  Compassionate, driven, organised.

Tell us something about you that would surprise others.  I absolutely love art galleries. Wherever I am I make time to visit art galleries and whenever I am away on holiday I usually come home with a new piece.

Meet Natalie, who has been a stylist for over 20 years, training with Headmasters Salons as an apprentice, working her way up to being a busy stylist and involved in educating other stylists.  Natalie has been with Stephen Young Salon since 2013 and continues to grow and develop, attending various courses to enhance her skills.

Natalie works Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays in our salon, plus one Saturday out of four. 

Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing?  I enjoy all aspects of hairdressing. My favourites are blow drying as you can see the final result really come together. I also really enjoy doing highlights, I love working out where to put certain colours to highlight areas of the face and brighten up complexions.

What do you love about being a hairdresser?  I love coming to work to create different looks and help people who need advice to manage their hair and make people feel good about themselves.

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair?  My initial inspiration to become a stylist was the TV programme 10 Years Younger because the hair made such a difference in the makeovers. I get inspiration daily from looking at people's hair wherever I am, seeing how people style their hair when they’re out and about. Also in the salon, I am inspired by my colleagues who create amazing hair.

What is your ultimate ambition?  I feel as though I am living my ultimate ambition right now. However, the dream is to have my own salon.

How would you describe yourself in three words?  Friendly, smiley and open.
